For this years season greetings we teamed up our best six GPUs for a little stress test. What some people might call a "test scene", we turned into our 2011 Christmas card. A particle system for some semi-heavy poly count, lots of anisotropic depth-of-field (but no motionblur) for nice bokeh effects blended with heavy transparencies and a good old "20" in the refraction depth spinner. (A ten in reflection by the way.) The light setup was basic: three Vray area lights and off we went. What we got in return were around 1900,000 rays per second casted into the scene, a quite acceptable noise level after 2500 rays per pixel in a whooping 53 minutes and 15 seconds. Not bad at all for a 2k image... Click here to view the raw rendering at full resolution. You gotta love the power of GPU rendering! Merry Xmas and A Happy New Year to Everyone. [Read more] |

We did a short animation test with a simple walktrough camera of a recently finished interior project. We tried to achieve a warm atmosphere with a simple light setup for fast rendertimes. Average rendertime was around 10min on a single machine. [Read more] |

We recently finished an arch-viz film for a large scale office project. It included over dozen greenscreen studio shots, rc helicopter flights, lots of motion tracking, too much rotoscoping and many hours of cg and post work. Well, seems we had a lot of fun and here is the making-of... [Read more] |
